Rates and rates shaping factors

I normally charge between €0,08 and €0,10 per source word for direct customers. The exact pricing depends on source material nature (general or special), its file format (a simple Word, Excel or a more complex format file) and the amount of additional research to be done to achieve what may be called "honest translation". A source document may have a lot of images with text, which must be handled with the use of graphics software, some documents may be offered in the form of a hardly discernible and scarcely legible scanned copy requiring some processing before or during the translation, a source text may contain misleading grammar, lexical and sense mistakes, typos etc - all that makes the translation work itself more time-consuming and must imply fair and adequate reward for translator.

Some surcharge may be applied for DTP, rush jobs and working on weekends. On the other hand, considerable discounts are possible for full and fuzzy matches when translation is done with the use of CAT tools.

OF COURSE, THE RATES ARE NEGOTIABLE IN ANY INDIVIDUAL CASE AND MAY BE DISCUSSED RIGHT TO THE POINT WHERE WE SEE THEM REASONABLE AND ACCEPTABLE FOR ALL.

Rates for translation agencies

My rates for translation agencies vary between €0,05 and €0,07 per source word. It should be understood that translation agencies bear significant overheads running their business and pay high local taxes. Moreover, they undertake a very important and very sensitive part of the work - dealing with direct customers. I really enjoy my collaboration with some agencies and I am sincerely thankful to my colleagues for their support, attention and care.
